Lewis Styons (pictured with Dr. David Eubanks) Lewis Styons’ life and ministry are models of what it means to be a preacher and an evangelist. Upon graduating from JBC, Lewis began preaching for three small churches every Sunday and working at a poultry processing plant during the week to support himself and his new bride, Helen. After completing a graduate degree at Butler School of Religion in 1948, he moved to his native eastern North Carolina where he served churches in Roanoke Rapids, Reidsville, and Washington over a period of forty years. Not only did these churches thrive under his ministries, but from them new churches were started in the community. When he announced his retirement in 1988, the Fairview Christian Church in Williamston asked him to fill in temporarily until they located a minister. He has been in this "temporary" ministry for 14 years. He has now given over 61 years to the preaching ministry. Helen, his wife of 52 years, passed away after a long bout with cancer. |
