Philip Eubanks

Name:  Philip A. Eubanks

Title:  Vice President for Development

Year Started:  1996

Background:  Mr. Eubanks grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee on the campus of Johnson Bible College.  His father served as a professor and later as president of the College.  He attended the Woodlawn Christian Church and was baptized at age ten.  He later became a charter member of the Seymour Heights Christian Church.  He graduated from Doyle High School in 1977.  He has one brother and one sister.

Personal Information:  He was born on April 11, 1959. He married his wife Nancy in 1999.  Nancy worked as a trainer in the insurance industry and later pursued her passion as a Christian speaker and started her business, Goodnews, Inc.  When they met, Nancy was the director of communications at Atlanta Christian College.  Now she is a stay at home mom taking care of the Eubanks’ son, Joseph.  Philip and Nancy adopted Joseph from Taiwan in June of 2003.

Education:  He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Preaching from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN, in 1981. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer from The University of Tennessee in 1988 and a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1992 from the University of Cincinnati.  He has also taken masters-level courses in estate planning from The College for Financial Planning.

Ministry and Business Experience:  He served for three years as associate minister at the University Christian Church.  After completing a degree in engineer, he worked for four years for General Electric Aircraft Engines as a mechanical engineer and for three years for Lockheed Martin as a software analyst.

One of the things that brought Philip to JBC was the personal passion for financial stewardship that he has maintained since a teenager.   He served first as director of planned giving and became vice president for development in 2002.

Interests and Hobbies:
    •  Personal Finance and Stewardship.  He attributes this interest to his parents who model a modest lifestyle and generous giving.
    •  Working on cars.  He does most of his own car repairs.
    •  Landscaping.  Actually he likes to mow and plants things when he has to.
    •  Hiking in the Smoky Mountains National Park.  He is looking forward to hiking more demanding trails as Joseph gets older.
    •  Golf.  He doesn't get to play as much as he would like.
