- To conduct a prayer ministry in behalf of missionaries and missionary recruits
- To compile a database of all Christian Church/Church of Christ (4C) missionaries and an online biographical dictionary of (deceased) missionaries (Acts 29) as a collaborative project for JBC and non-JBC writers; the purpose of Acts 29 is to draw attention to the educational and inspirational aspects of such biographies
- To establish a missions archive to solicit, receive, store, and provide access to newsletters, papers, correspondence, memorabilia, etc.
- To help develop JBC's library holdings for the study of worldwide missions and related disciplines - for the use of students, faculty, visiting missionaries, etc.
- To schedule campus visits and short-term residence of missionaries, forwarding agents, and leaders of missions organizations
- To host periodic lectureships and consultations in missionary theory and practice (including the first consultation for directors of 4C mission organizations, at JBC on March 1-3, 2007)
- To promote missions awareness among the 4C congregations through the publication of articles and through programs at JBC's Homecoming & Senior Saints, the NACC & National Missionary Convention, and in local churches
- To commission a series of publishable studies that relate to the Institute's purpose
- To conduct an extensive correspondence with missionaries as a means of encouragement and service
- To serve as a clearing house for all sources of information of interest to missionaries (e.g., organizations, web sites, schools, publications)
- To maintain up-to-date bibliographies of scholarly literature that bears upon the recruitment, education, work, and maintenance of missionaries.
