2007 Bible Bowl Tournament

The annual JBC Bible Bowl Tournament takes place in June. Below is a summary of the information you'll need in making plans to participate in the next tournament.

Dates:

Tuesday, June 24, through Friday, June 27, 2008.

Type:
  • Two Division Round Robin on Wednesday and Thursday
  • Two Division Double Elimination Tournament starting on Friday
  • "Top Brain" (individual achievement) test will also be given on Wednesday
Size:
  • Forty-six total teams with a limit of 31 teams in Division 1 and 15 teams in the Division 2.
  • There is a registration limitation of two teams per division per church. After February 29th if the divisions have not filled up additional registrations will be accepted from multiple team churches already registered.
Eligibility:

Division 1 is for teams desiring top competition while Division 2 is for teams desiring more experience. Coaches will need to indicate in which division they want their teams placed. Coaches needing assistance to determine their appropriate placement can e-mail tournament director Mark Hahlen. We do reserve the right to move teams up or down between divisions based on the number of teams registered, their round robin performance through the year, and their performance in earlier spring and summer tournaments.

Team Registration:

Registration fee of $75 per team. This fee includes costs for the National Bible Bowl Office for providing the questions and the test.

Individual Cost:

The cost for each individual is $55 per person. This includes eight meals (Wednesday breakfast through Friday lunch) and housing for four nights (Tuesday through Friday evenings) in the dormitories.  Teams can stay an additional night on Saturday for a cost of $10.00 person. No additional food services are provided after Friday lunch. You'll need to bring your own linens or sleeping bag.

Awards:
  • Top teams in each tournament will receive trophies
  • High scorers of the "Top Brain" test will receive plaques
  • High scorers of the "Top Brain" test plus members of winning teams in the upper division will be awarded scholarships.
Registration:
  • Registration information will be distributed at the February local Round Robins.
  • A registration form can be printed from this web sire and sent in with the required fees. The online registration form will be available approximately four months before the tournament

Please indicate on the registration form in which division your team will be competing. Division 1 is for teams desiring top competition while Division 2 is for teams desiring more experience.

Recreation:

Campus recreational areas will be available throughout the week. Special activities including a Coffee House on Wednesday evening in the new Gally Commons where players and coaches can showcase their talents and a picnic with activities for everyone on Thursday are also planned.

Each team is required to bring a quizmaster in order to participate.

Quizmasters with greater experience will likely quiz in the Division 1 and handle more games, but all quizmasters will be used.

Refund policy:

Registration fees will be refunded only if a team from the waiting list is available to come. The earlier we receive a cancellation, the easier it is to find another team.

No refunds on cancellations received after June 1.

All teams must bring sufficient sponsors to chaperon their young people in the dormitories: a male sponsor for the males on the team and a female sponsor for the females. Housing will be provided in College residence halls from Tuesday through Friday making it impossible to provide private facilities for married couples. Teams can stay an additional night on Saturday for a cost of $10.00 person. No additional food services are provided after Friday lunch.

We recommend that entries be sent certified mail, return receipt requested. Official confirmations will be sent out by email. Participating teams will receive additional information in May. Receipts will be sent with the May letter, unless requested to be sent earlier. Questions or comments contact Jon Hale via email or by phone at 865-251-2275
