Johnson Bible College dorm life is unlike anything I’ve experienced! I never realized the importance of close female friendships and how it strengthens my own relationship with Christ until I became a resident in a dorm with about 300 other girls.
Even though I am away from the comforts of my own home, the dorms are definitely a worthy substitute. Our rooms are beautifully furnished and large enough to fit an army of stuffed animals, overstuffed thrift store chairs, and several close friends. The creative possibilities are endless for decorating and rearranging beds and desks. Full bathrooms in each room give us females the privacy and time we need to get ready each morning in time for class and chapel!
Each week we come together for “wing devotions” in which we share our struggles, pray for each other, and fellowship. Sometimes my wing plans outings together, which are so much fun…Just imagine 17 energy-filled girls bonding together while ice-skating or taking over 4 tables at a restaurant! My two R.A.s (Resident Assistants) are older students that I can trust and count on to help me in any area.
Each night, there is so much to choose from: hanging out with friends, holding small-group Bible studies, getting homework done, or having a huge study session complete with snacks and flashcards spread all over the floor.
Because we share in each other’s academic, spiritual, and physical lives, I believe these girls are friends I will have for life, and especially because of the permanent glue that bonds us- our love for Christ.
