When founded in 1893, Johnson Bible College's original name was the "School of the Evangelist." One aspect of the evangelistic emphasis was world missions. Throughout her history, JBC has had a strong legacy of sending missionaries overseas.
Today our emphasis on world evangelism is stronger than ever. The missions program enrolls a large number of students each year. Our largest small group chapel is "Harvesters," a mission oriented chapel, with over 80 members, many of whom come from other programs.
Week of Evangelism. Rather than have a "spring break," JBC sets aside a week each spring for the purpose of evangelism. During "Week of E" many students go on short term evangelistic trips to countries all around the world and places across the US. Some common destinations include Mexico, Haiti, Puerto Rico, England, Ireland, Romania, the Dominican Republic, and Grundy, VA along with many restricted and closed countries.
A Large Missions Center provides a prominent feature of our new Global• Education•Technology Center. The foyer of which contains a marble map of the world in the floor surrounded by the flags of the 52 nations JBC alumni were serving when the building was dedicated.

Every semester we have a Missions Emphasis Week to help keep students and faculty focused on our call to missions.
Students are also encouraged to attend the National Missionary Convention. In fact, there were more students from JBC at the 2003 NMC than any other college or university.
"You should never worry about God sending you somewhere you don't want to go. Missions is as easy as asking God for a task and watching as your desire to accomplish that task grows." Larry Stanley
