Students typically attend college to learn two things: what a person should know and what a person should do for a career. However, at JBC we believe that there is a third vital aspect that must be captured: what a person should be. We desire that our graduates not only obtain knowledge and skill, but that they also be godly and faithful men and women who reflect the character of Christ in their daily lives.
Therefore, we give constant attention to the spiritual life of our
campus. At Johnson Bible College you will find a community
of faith dedicated to edifying each other and glorifying God.
The entire campus gathers for chapel services several times
each week. These times together feature worship, preaching/teaching,
mission awareness, encouragement,
prayer, and small groups. We also have a more informal student-led worship
service each Sunday evening. Various retreats are offered
each year to deepen the spiritual
lives of students. Groups for Bible study, prayer, accountability, and
worship are frequently gathering to bless the students. Having
faculty and staff living
on campus adds to the opportunities for counseling, modeling and mentoring.
Students are strongly encouraged to get involved in the life
of a local congregation of
believers. In fact, community outreach has extended to local service
organizations, inner city ministries, campus ministry at U.T.
and student mission trips to various locations around the world.
We are aware that most students will graduate with gaps in
their knowledge and an incomplete set of skills. However,
in spite of that fact, God has a history
of powerfully using people who love Him with all their heart, soul,
mind and strength. We pray that each student who attends JBC will
grow in their relationship
with Christ while improving their ability to serve in His kingdom. |
