In order to enhance Johnson Bible College's longstanding educational goals, the College launched an Honors Program (HP) in the fall semester of 2000. This Honors Program offers academically talented students an opportunity to improve their college experience through participation in creative course work, personalized academic counseling, and regional cultural events. To strengthen its academic component, this program includes courses that are specifically designed for its participants. These students are encouraged to sharpen their skills in preparation for graduate study and positions of leadership.

The Honors Program provides many more academic options.
HP students participate in some courses designed exclusively for them and, during their senior year, members of the Honors Program will complete a special project – a substantial research paper or field project – under the tutelage of a JBC professor. Students who plan to pursue graduate education have an option to modify their JBC program of study even further – and concentrate their studies in apologetics, history, or literature.
Honors students participate in a special library orientation and have more flexible library privileges. HP participants enroll in a separate Friday group during three of their semesters; have extra opportunities in the work-study program; receive information about scholarships and graduate study; and have access to a customized registration procedure. In keeping with its academic focus, students who graduate after completing three or four years of full-time study on this program are recognized with a special diploma at graduation. Along with their distinctive course work, HP students also participate in three scheduled off-campus trips each academic year. The College pays for events that require tickets (e.g., symphony performances, plays).
