Successful completion of studies in this area should enable the student to:

  1. Exemplify the Christ-like attitude of a servant-leader
  2. Comprehend the nature, function, and responsibilities of the pastoral ministry with emphasis on preaching and congregational development
  3. Assess personal strengths and weaknesses and make a commitment to life-long learning and growth
  4. Understand the dynamics of change and conflict, and work cooperatively with others in carrying out the various programs and ministries of the church
  5. Attain entry level skills in administering the various programs of learning and worship in a local congregation
  6. Effectively prepare and deliver deductive and inductive sermons
  7. Organize and lead in congregational development and effective methods of evangelism
  8. Work effectively in counseling, guiding, and referring persons in need
