Degree
Options: B.A. or B.S. with
Bible major and second major in Preaching
Typical Ministry: Senior or
Associate Minister in a Local Church
Successful
completion of studies in this area should enable the student to:
- Exemplify the Christ-like attitude of a
servant-leader
- Comprehend the nature, function, and
responsibilities of the pastoral ministry with emphasis on
preaching and congregational development
- Assess personal strengths and weaknesses
and make a commitment to life-long learning and growth
- Understand the dynamics of change and
conflict, and work cooperatively with others in carrying out
the various programs and ministries of the church
- Attain entry level skills in
administering the various programs of learning and worship in
a local congregation
- Effectively prepare and deliver deductive
and inductive sermons
- Organize and lead in congregational
development and effective methods of evangelism
- Work effectively in counseling, guiding,
and referring persons in need
